From: "Communications Office - LANL Notices" <email@example.com>
Date: Fri, June 9, 2006 7:10 pm
Please note the following:
As you may have already heard or read, there has been a compromise of
information at the National Nuclear Security Administration.
The Laboratory has been notified by NNSA that a data file containing
the names of some 1,500 NNSA federal and contractor employees from
around the complex was compromised.
NNSA will issue notification letters to its Site Office managers for
distribution to affected contractor or subcontractor employees. NNSA
will issue letters to the responsible contracting officers for any
grantees or consultants who may be affected.
The letters will note what information was compromised and when, as
well as points of contact for further information:
Federal Trade Commission Identity Theft Hotline and Web site
Consumer reporting companies that can place fraud alerts
NNSA will work with the Federal Trade Commission hotline staff to
monitor and/or track any actual cases of identity theft reports
arising from the compromise and report to departmental management
quarterly through September 2007 on the status of cases. The Federal
Trade Commission will be contacted about the availability of reports
We stand ready to assist our employees and NNSA in passing along
information to you as it becomes available.
