LANL Retirement Options Spreadsheet

Hi Doug,

This spreadsheet I wrote is making the rounds. A couple of folks have
suggested posting its location to the blog. Please do so if you think
it's appropriate. The location is:

Comments:
Very comprehensive. Thanks, Lee. It would have been nice for UC or LANS to have provided such a useful tool (months ago).

Lee,

If you're planning to update to a new version number, you might wish to consider including the fact that we can't touch our 401k's (or 403b's) until age 59.5 without significant tax penalties. So this limits retirement income based on 401k's (and Nest Eggs) before we reach that age.

You can take a distribution from the UC 403(b) and the LANS 401(k) plans without penalty if you retire at age 55 or older.

Thanks 2%

If Lee is feeling generous, maybe he can add options that allow for this scenario to be explored.

Or in the year that you turn 55 so that you can be out on June 28th to get the 2% COLA if you were a UC employee.
