NNSA Meeting Announcement

National Nuclear Security Administration
Holds Employee and Retiree Benefit Plan Meetings

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) will host a series of poster board meetings at which the Lab's new contractor, Los Alamos National Security, LLC (LANS) will present Los Alamos National Laboratory employees with the pension/benefits plan it is proposing. NNSA will take comments on whether the proposed plan meets the "substantially equivalent" requirement of the LANS contract.

Is somebody available to report, via the blog, pertinent answers (if any) to questions of interest for LANL retirees? I'm asking for a friend, of course, who lives outside New Mexico.
It looks like the ball is in your court LANL. I hope you find a spokesman who can start compiling questions to be asked on the day of this event. Retirement and benefits take precedence over any other issue. Do not let them dodge this bullet. For the people at LLNL, I would say to watch what happens to LANL very closely and expect more of the same when your day comes. My only question is, are we now going to be allowed to retire before June 1st, 2006 on the primary UCRP?Will the retirees continue to be covered by the primary UCRP? I hope they have had a change of mind.Good luck and let us all know.
We frequently have law firms looking at this blog. Here's one that is currently checking us out:

UC should participate if they haven't appeared before. No one yet understands the UCRP/LANL proposal: why, what, when, and how. Can LANS benefits go forward and an employment decision be made without that being settled? I think not.
