LANL Bidder Is Opening Offices

The Los Alamos Alliance, the team led by the University of Texas System and Lockheed Martin Corp. that is bidding to operate Los Alamos National Laboratory, is opening offices in Los Alamos and EspaƱola.

The Los Alamos office at 1789 Central Ave., Suite 3, will open at 2:30 p.m. today. The EspaƱola office at 810 North Riverside Drive, Suite E, will open in mid-October.

Beginning Thursday, business hours for the Los Alamos office will be 7 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Lockheed Martin announced today across the Corporation that effective in January 2006 they a discontinuing their defined benefits retirement plan and going to a "CAP" plan that sits on top of your 401K.

Anyway, across LM Corp new hires in 2006 will be on their own with a very low single digit % contribution to the individual.

When is the decision going to be made on LANL?
