University of California still wants LANL

Two University of California committees voted unanimously this morning to recommend that the institution move forward with a bid to operate Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The final decision will be made by the board of regents on Thursday afternoon. If the regents take the recommendation, UC and Bechtel Corp. will form a limited liability company to bid on and operate the lab.

It sure is nice to have a manager (interim or not) that stands up for his employees rather than kicking our teeth out while we are lying on the ground from the brutal verbal beatings of the last few years. Thank you Director Kuckuck! We appreciate your support.
Ditto to that. The change is refreshing. Let's hope that substance follows in the wake of the words. We shall be waiting.
Trust but verify...
Kuckuck is temporary and he still reports to Foley. He may have good intentions and be a lot smoother than Nanos, but he's got to keep his upline happy so he can go back to California when this is over. He ain't gonna rock the boat.
Not only that, Dawn, but he spends most of his time in California frantically trying to help write the response to the RFP. In other words, LANL is leaderless.

Of course it was leaderless under Nanos, so let's not go there.
