Mad as hell, switching to Mac

From Anonymous:

Maybe this guy should have a talk with Rich Marquez.

Comments:
There is also the CEO of Intel suggesting you might need to move to a non-Windows platform if you want safety and security. A majority of corporate PCs are infected with viruses, worms, keystroke loggers or other spyware, and even Microsoft has no solution. LANL managers need to start challenging people who are proposing to store sensitive data on network-attached Windows PCs. We have to do better than the Fortune 500 on securing our data.

Hey - No worries, CCN division will protect you. Windoze forever!

Hmmm. OK, never buy or read any books by Schwartau, and certainly don't hire him for info security needs. He apparently doesn't know how to (1) buy a quality brand computer rather than a junk Dell and/or Sony, (2) use a firewall, spyware, and virus blocking software (takes about 20 minutes TOTAL), and (3) upgrade hassle-free. I'm not even a computer guy, just a user, and this stuff is really pretty trivial.

Macs are fine, but sheesh his article is nothing more than trolling. Literally. "Wintel"? Who even SAYS that anymore?

Why? Could the possibility be that Marquez is a good guy? That Marquez is trying to do the best he can? Why is there such a hatred toward management? Yes, there are some bad ones. Wait, there are even worse ones. I think Rich is one of the brave trying to be a good manager. Back off and give him a chance, or stop complaining and step up.

Could you handle an institution that has been poorly managed, promotes on the Peter Principle, and does everything possible to ignore management?

Wwhy are we where we are? YOU

"Why is there such a hatred toward management?"

This is a rather adversarial spin on what is a presentation of evidence for reconsidering an action. What's wrong with just taking the facts as they are, rather than turning them into a personal attack?

"Could you handle an institution that has been poorly managed, promotes on the Peter Principle, and does everything possible to ignore management?"
YES, we have been doing it for a long time.

"Why is there such a hatred toward management?"

We hate them because to many of them are self-serving and incompetent. In 25 years at LANL the only supervisor who showed any interest in me was John Browne. For the rest of them, all they cared about was their next promition, sort of like in the Navy. On the other hand, know what their interest waa, I could get anything that I wanted as long as I could explain how giving me what I wanted was good for the boss.
