Another Musical Interlude

From Anonymous:

With apologies to Gilbert & Sullivan and the Pirate’s
of Penzance

NANOS:
I am the very model of a former Naval Admiral
I’ve information vegetable, animal and mineral
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights
historical
From Wen Ho Lee, to Waterloo in order categorical
I’m very well acquainted, too, with matters
mathematical
I understand equations, both the simple and
quadratical
About the missing disks I am teeming with a lot
o’news,
…lot o’ news.
….with many cheerful facts about the futures of the
lot of you.

ALL:
With many cheerful facts about the futures of the lot
of you
With many cheerful facts about the futures of the lot
of you
With many cheerful facts about the futures of the lot
of you

NANOS:
I’m very good at integral and differential calculus;
With accuracy or peer review, I rarely make a lot of
fuss.
In short in matters trivial, fantastic, or incredible,

I am the very model of a former Naval Admiral

ALL
In short, in matters trivial, fantastic, or
incredible,
He is the very model of a former Naval Admiral.

NANOS:
I know our mythic history from Teller to old what’s
his name
I answer hard acrostics, and basically I have no
shame.
I quote Appendix F and other administratium
Someday they hope I’ll even learn to spell plutonium.

ALL:
Someday we hope he’ll even learn to spell plutonium.
Someday we hope he’ll even learn to spell plutonium.
Someday we hope he’ll even learn to spell plutonium.

NANOS:
I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform,
And tell you every detail of Foley’s aging uniform.
In short in matters trivial, fantastic, or incredible
I am the very model of a former Naval Admiral.

ALL:
In short, in matters trivial, fantastic, or
incredible,
He is the very model of a former Naval Admiral.

NANOS:
When I know what is meant by “mamelon” and “ravelin”
When I can tell at sight a Cowboy from an Indian
When such affairs as safety and security I’m more wary
at,
And when I know precisely where the barcodes are
located at
When I have learnt what progress has been made in
modern hydrotests
I can rid my self of experts and those pesky aging
physicists.
In short when I’ve a smattering of elemental strategy
You’ll see when talking smack, no one is quite as good
as me.

ALL:
You’ll see when talking smack, no one is quite as good
as he.
You’ll see when talking smack, no one is quite as good
as he.
You’ll see when talking smack, no one is quite as good
as he.

NANOS:
In scientific knowledge, though I’m plucky and
adventury,
I’m mastering the concept of the turning of a century
In short in matters trivial, fantastic, or incredible
I am the very model of a former Naval Admiral

ALL:
In short in matters trivial, fantastic or incredible
He is the very model of a formal LANL Admiral.

Comments:
I love it! Would that I could sing, for I would sing it in the halls. Maybe I'll just hum it under my breath - we consiprators could use it as a secret sign of recognition.

I plan to whistle it next time I see Nanos in the hallway where he and his minions try to trample me like they own the place.

Just a little farther down the page on this WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL Blog (O, Beloved Blog-One) is another story about "The Conspiracy of Carlyle." For self-consistency, I post a double-riposte a-Nano-mous comment; here goes:

Hey, the Carlyle Group could be equally well covered under the song from "The Pirates of Penzance." The Admirals (Nanos, Brooks, and Foley) could be competing for the role of the Captain of the HMS Pinafore (who sings, "Tho' 'bother it' I may occasionally say, I never use a big, big, D!").

Betrayal
Suffered consequence
It's been so long any piece of this made any
kind of sense
You anoint the king, I'll burn everything
down to ashes.
You giveth, I taketh away
It's a system now, intertwined.
Take you place in the line to be ground by the gears of the materpiece.
Betrayal

Lamb of God
